SELIGMAN AREA FREE LEGAL CLINIC
At Cruise Law Offices, P.L.L.C., are glad to provide as a public service to the Seligman
and Ashfork area residents, a legal clinic, generally held the last Friday of each month at the
Seligman Library. To assist you and to help you get the most from your legal clinic, here are some
of the things you should know.
First of all, there is no charge to you for the advice and counsel you will receive. This is
presented to you by the Seligman Library and Cruise Law Offices, P.L.L.C., as a public service.
Because of the nature of the clinic, we deal with consumer and personal matters only. We do not
accept matters of a commercial nature.
Second, we who staff the legal clinic are lawyers in private practice in Arizona. This being
the case, it may be that we represent someone or an organization whose interests are in conflict with
your own. We will endeavor to advise you of any such conflict if we are made aware of it. However,
we may not always know if we represent someone whose interests conflict with yours. According
to ER 6.3, the ethical rules by which we practice, the fact that we may see you at the Seligman
Library and give you advice and counsel, does not create a client-lawyer relationship. Therefore, we
generally will provide you with advice of a general nature only, especially if it appears that our firm
has a client-lawyer relationship with someone or some organization whose interests are in conflict
with yours.
The information and advice we give you at the Seligman Library is generally intended to be
of a general "first-aid" nature only. If we feel you need follow-up and a direct relationship with an
attorney, you should contact the director of the Seligman Library to for a list of area attorneys. The
charges for these appointments are many times either waived or are reduced but are nearly always
held at the lawyer's office. In any event, you should ask first if there is to be any charge involved.
The reason for an office follow-up is that it has become necessary to establish a client-lawyer
relationship with you to give you more detailed advice and counsel or to provide specific services
on your behalf. Please feel free to discuss charges at the outset. You always have a right to decline
the representation if you feel you do not wish to or do not have money to pay these fees.
If you come to Cruise Law Offices, P.L.L.C. for follow-up legal services, you will be asked
to fill out our client intake sheet. We require all of our clients to do this, regardless of how they
came to us. The reason we ask you to fill out this intake sheet carefully and completely is to that we
can know whom we are being asked to represent and so we can better screen your case for conflicts
of interest. Remember, to take advantage of the free or reduced rate follow-up services, please be
sure that your first appointment is scheduled through the Clinic.
